Senior Program Manager

Come join RAE Systems now part of Honeywell as a Senior Program Manager in the Program Management Office (PMO). This role will also be responsible for running the product board activities including managing software and hardware product programs involving cross-functional teams spanning international and organizational boundaries. You will work with marketing, product management, engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, support, IT, and other functions/organizations.

Most activities take place in a matrix type of organization, where the position does not have responsibility over product development but does have overall program management responsibility requiring ability to effect change by influence and salesmanship.


  • Scope and Influence: Programs are multi-phase and consist of multiple projects. They involve complex projects that may require technical or innovation by multiple business units and functional groups. The results impact crucial business objectives of one or more business or functional groups.
  • Program Execution: Drives cross-functional execution of a program, from inception to delivery. Coordinates activities across functions and groups to achieve success. Consistently guides program teams to excellent results even when faced with resistance or setbacks. Provides program governance while diving into the details, if needed, in order to keep program on track. 
  • Planning and Tracking: Provides input on product and/or technology strategy and participates in creating and updating roadmaps related to assigned scope. Collaborates with Product Management, Project Management and functional leaders to develop multi-year program plans. Creates, optimizes, and drives plans. Effectively adapts and modifies plans based on changing data or conditions. Ensures that a program tracks to resources, time to market, and budget constraints. Ensures adherence to quality and other relevant standards (e.g. interoperability, architectural compliance, UI guidelines). 
  • Risk Mgmt and Problem Solving: Identifies issues that need action, implements appropriate decisions, and communicates results clearly and in actionable form. Identifies trade-offs between short and long term, and balances the needs of employees, customers, and shareholders. Ensures speed, quality and shared vision by getting the right people involved in decisions. Creates an environment where people are encouraged to share information, constructively debate, and communicate freely. Assesses their program team and their plans, and makes tough calls when required. Learns from successes and mistakes, applies the learning’s and makes the lessons relevant to others.
  • Communication and Coordination: Operates independently and frequently interacts with senior management to help set strategic guidance for program. Aligns program teams with the business objectives and understands the connections across organizational boundaries. Frames communication and discussions for the intended audience, with appropriate context and line of sight. Creates and delivers effective and persuasive presentations appropriate for Vice President-level audiences when communicating.
  • People Development:  Coaches and mentors less senior Program Managers in program management fundamentals. Contributes to developing high performance teams by diagnosing, understanding and facilitating team dynamics.

  • Education:
    • MS in Electrical, Chemical or other major engineering is preferred.
    • BSEE / BSChemE with more years of combined experience.
    • PgMP or PMP certification from Project Management Institute required.  
  • Experience:
    • Must have experience in at least one of the following areas: wireless systems, networked systems, or instrumentation. 
    • 10+ yrs. related experience in Project/Program Management.

    • Excellent skills in verbal, written, and presentation communications.

    • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing work environment.

  • Other Requirements:
    • Up to 40% overseas travel to China.

    • Languages: Fluent in English. Mandarin is a plus.
